Aristides Rivas leads a versatile musical career, combining different performing and educational projects. He is the principal cello of the Rhode Island Philharmonic and the Springfield Symphony. Mr. Rivas is a Grammy Nominee and has performed extensively in North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. He has taught internationally throughout his career, giving master classes, private lessons, and workshops for the past decade at places such Skidmore College in New York, Stanford University in California,Fundación Musical Simon Bolivar in Venezuela, the Sejong Dream Tree Youth Orchestra in Seoul, South Korea, and Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes in Mexico, among others. Aristides currently serves as a cello faculty at the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
1st Prize of the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition, Laureate of the Honens, Dublin, Geza Anda, Valencia, Sendai and Finalist at the Van Cliburn, Italian pianist Roberto Plano has performed throughoutthe world – notably at Lincoln Center, Sala Verdi, Wigmore Hall and the Herkulessaal. He has appeared as soloist under the direction of Sir Marriner, Conlon, Zuckerman, and played with Takacs, Cremona, Fine Arts and St. Petersburg String Quartets, as well as with Ilya Grubert and Enrico Bronzi. He has recorded for Decca, Brilliant, Concerto, Azica, Arktos, Sipario, Tau Records. Next fall he will join the Faculty of Boston University.
